Introduction

You have just been hired as a director of a large publishing company - Heritage Publishing.  Your boss calls you into his office.  He shows you some of the science textbooks that your company is currently publishing.  He throws them on the floor.

"Outrageous!!"  he cries.

"Uh, Sir?"  you ask.

"These books, they are unbelievable!  I have never seen such drivel!  Look at these pictures."  He thrusts one of the textbooks into your hands.  You look through it and see the photos of Darwin, Newton, Aristotle, and Einstein.

"Yes, what is wrong with these pictures?" you ask.

"There is nothing WRONG with the pictures," he explains calmly.  It is the pictures that are MISSING that is a crime.  All of the contributions of African-Americans and Latinos to science and none of them mentioned.  Not even ONCE.  Unbelieveable!"

He continues, "Director, I would like a biography of one of the many African-American and Latino scientists on my desk by Friday.  Can you do that for me?"
